The long, rough ride ahead for…

By Nick Carey RUSTON, Louisiana (Reuters) – Mini motorcycle and go-kart maker Monster Moto made a big bet on U.S. manufacturing by moving assembly to this Louisiana town in 2016 from China. But it will be a long ride before it can stamp its products “Made in USA.” The loss of nearly one out four U.S. factories in the last two decades means parts for its bike frames and engines must be purchased in China, where the manufacturing supply chain moved years ago. “There’s just no way to source parts in America right now,” said Monster Moto Chief Executive Alex Keechle during a tour of the company’s assembly plant. “But by planting the flag here, we believe suppliers will follow.”…

This Is a Long Blog Post…

You may have heard of Mar-a-Lago. It’s the large Palm Beach, Florida estate where Donald Trump retreats often after he takes off his President’s suit and clocks out for the week. Once again, Trump will be spending the Easter weekend at his resort while the rest of us become increasingly steeped in dread and paranoia. I’m sorry to say, this blog started with a comment I made in Slack about how Mar-a-Lago always reminds me of the lyrics to the timeless, blissful Beach Boys song “Kokomo.” (Mar-a-Lago sounds like Montego and Key Largo.) Ever since that magic moment, the Jezebel has been hooked on “Kokomo” like LSD, singing it in the shower and feeling its good vibrations. You will be,…

CNN’s Jeffrey Lord called Trump the…

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, CNN’s Jeffrey Lord was still at it, tweeting out links to Martin Luther King Jr. speeches and professing his love and admiration for the slain civil rights leader. “A hero unafraid to oppose judging by skin color,” Lord wrote in one tweet. “I stand with Dr. King,” read another. “If you think that’s the wrong side of history, I disagree. Strongly.” Lord, a conservative commentator employed by CNN to be a Donald Trump defender, had had quite a day. It started with an appearance on one of the network’s early morning shows, during which he called President Trump “the Martin Luther King of health care.” King and Trump were the same, Lord said, in the sense…

The time for Uber leadership to…

Take the most recent Uber scandal, for example. Yesterday, The Information came out with a report that Uber spied on rival Lyft with a software-based program called “Hell” from 2014 through early 2016. It created fake Lyft accounts to keep tabs on its ride-hailing competitor and the software even figured out which of its drivers were “double-apping” a.k.a. those that drove for both Lyft and Uber. The Hell program would then send more customers to the double-appers in an effort to persuade them to use Uber exclusively, paying them a boatload of bonuses as a result. Instead of decrying this practice as inappropriate, Kalanick praised it, calling it an example of “hustle.”It’s this philosophy of the ends justifying the means…

Four bodies found in Long Island…

The four people whose bodies were discovered at a Long Island park most likely were killed by the notorious MS-13 gang, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy Sini said Thursday.  The bodies of the four men were found at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in a wooded section between Clayton Street and Lowell Avenue in Central Islip, Sini said. They were several hundred feet south from a nearby soccer field.  ALLEGED MS-13 GANG MEMBERS ACCUSED IN HOUSTON WOMAN’S ‘SATANIC’ MURDER Sini would not release the identify of the four individuals — a 16-year-old boy, two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man — because they have been only tenatively identified.  The homicides took place within the last two days, but the exact date and…

4 bodies found in Long Island…

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WPIX) — The killing of four people, including three teenagers, who were found dead at a Long Island park is consistent with MS-13 — offering a “stark reminder” that the local community continues to be at war with the deadly gang, police said Thursday. Four corpses with “significant trauma” were discovered in the Central Islip Recreational Center Park off Clayton Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Suffolk County police. A sharp or edged instrument was used in the killings. Police have yet to make “definitive ID’s,” and on Thursday only identified those killed as four males: one who was 16 years old, two who were 18, and one who was 20. The killings are consistent with…

MS-13 gangsters suspected in Long Island…

Four young men were savagely murdered near a Long Island children’s playground, with violent local gangbangers suspected in the suburban slaughter, officials said. The corpses were discovered Wednesday night at the Recreation Village Park in Central Islip, with three of the murdered youths still in their teens, said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy Sini. The butchered bodies were left behind for an undetermined amount of time by the fugitive killers. The victims “all suffered from significant trauma throughout their body,” the commissioner said Thursday. “It appears they were killed with a sharper edged instrument.” Six MS-13 gang members busted in Long Island teens’ murders Without going into detail, Sini said the murder technique used was “consistent with the modus operandi…
